Capcom is giving players another reason to jump into Onimusha: Way of the Sword before the full game arrives. With its September 4, 2026 release getting close, the playable demo has been expanded with more content, giving players a better look at what Musashi’s new adventure actually feels like.
The biggest addition is a new playable section featuring Daidara, a massive Genma boss that should give players a much better taste of the game’s combat. Rather than limiting the demo to the same early encounters, the expanded version lets players experiment with Musashi’s swordplay against a much more intimidating opponent.

There’s also a small bonus for anyone planning to continue into the full game. Players with demo save data can receive the Kubi Akari Charm, which provides Musashi with a stat boost when starting the complete version. It’s not a huge reason to play the demo on its own, but it’s a nice extra for anyone who was already curious about the game.
The timing makes the update particularly interesting. Onimusha: Way of the Sword marks the return of a series that has been away from the spotlight for a long time, and Capcom clearly wants players to get comfortable with its combat before launch day. If you’ve been interested but weren’t completely sold by the trailers, the expanded demo is probably the easiest way to decide whether this new Onimusha belongs in your library.
